Detroit Young Professionals is partnering with Covenant House Michigan to host an outdoor spring cleaning on CHM's campus. Volunteers are needed to help clean out flower beds and vegetable gardens, and plant new plants. Gloves and gardening tools will be provided. In case of inclement weather, volunteers will help organize CHM’s clothing closets indoors.
After the event, there will be an optional Social Hour for volunteers at Traffic Jam and Snug from 12:30 to 2:30 PM.
Covenant House Michigan provides young people (18-24) facing homelessness with shelter, educational and vocational programs. CHM builds a bridge to hope for young people facing homelessness and survivors of trafficking through unconditional love, absolute respect, and relentless support. Their doors are open 24/7 and their programs are designed to empower young people to rise and overcome adversity, today and in the future.
All volunteers will be required to bring proof of vaccination (a photo is fine). Masks will be required indoors but won't be needed outdoors.

Let’s Detroit Ambassadors Lauren Bealore and Whitney Griffin are Appointees serving on the Michigan Coronavirus Taskforce on Racial Disparities. Lauren and Whitney will talk about the goals of the taskforce, the committees on which they serve, and share advice for other young professionals wishing to serve on future government advisories.
The Michigan Coronavirus Taskforce on Racial Disparities was created by Executive Order 2020-55 to address the systemic issues causing the disproportionate impacts of COVID-19 on African Americans in Michigan.
This event is co-hosted in partnership with Black Young Professionals of Metro Detroit, Challenge Detroit, Detroit Young Professionals, Let’s Detroit, and Young Nonprofit Professionals Network- Detroit.
Lauren Bealore is the Michigan Political Director for America Votes. Bealore is a graduate of Michigan State University where she studied Social Relations and Policy and The New England College with a Master’s in Public Policy. She has extensive experience in the political field running campaigns at the federal, state and local level, and is the co-founder of Young, Ambitious and Beautiful. She is passionate about growing a stronger metro Detroit region by bridging community and business interests.
Whitney Griffin is the Director of Marketing and Communications at the Downtown Detroit Partnership. Griffin is a devoted community servant and lends her marketing, communications, advocacy, and organizing expertise to a variety of community causes to uplift Detroit. She currently serves on the board of the Detroit Institute of Arts' Founders Junior Council, First Independence Bank's Millennial Advisory Board, and the National Black MBA Association's Detroit Chapter, and was the President of Detroit Young Professionals from 2016-2019.
Let’s Detroit is a talent initiative of the Detroit Regional Chamber which seeks to increase the number of college graduates who build their careers in the Detroit region. Young professional ambassadors serve as connectors to their industries, companies, neighborhoods, things to do, professional and social networks, and ways to get involved in community through www.letsdetroit.com and the Text-a-Detroiter platform.

Detroit Young Professionals is excited to be a supporter of Life Remodeled 2019 Six-Day Project. DYP Members are asked to support by coming to volunteer on Saturday, August 10.
Members will be working with over 10,000 volunteers to clean and beautify the Central Detroit Neighborhood surrounding the Durfee Innovation Society.
DYP Members may pick between two volunteer times: 9AM-1PM OR 1PM-5PM.
Life Remodeled will provide all of the necessary tools, a volunteer t-shirt, bottled water and lunch.
Special Notes: As we get closer to the event, additional information regarding project details, parking information, and volunteer expectations will be provided. All volunteers must be at least 14 years of age to participate. Wear closed toed shoes, work pants, and sunglasses or protective eyewear.
